Chapter 13Troubleshooting
Common problems and what to do. If a license key is not accepted, see Chapter 12, "Licenses and purchase".
13.1Loading
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Japanese column names are garbled | In Format settings on the import screen, switch Encoding between UTF-8 and Shift_JIS |
| All columns end up in one, or the columns are split wrongly | Change Delimiter (CSV) to comma, tab, semicolon, and so on |
| Names or units are read as numbers, or the first row is missing | In the advanced settings, set the header, unit, and start rows to the row numbers shown in the preview (Chapter 4) |
| The message The Free edition loads up to appears | Free loads up to 1,000 series. Select fewer columns, or use a license |
| There are so many columns that it is hard to select them | Type a name or unit in the search box above the column list to narrow it down |
| You want to add the columns of another file, or data that continues in time | Use Add data on the Sources tab (Chapter 4) |
13.2Display and operation
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A series turned on does not appear on the chart | There is a limit on how many series are shown at once (150 in Free, 300 by default with a license). Check Max visible series on the Display tab |
| The chart responds slowly | Show fewer series or lower Max visible series. Loading fewer columns also makes loading faster |
| You want to undo an action | Use Undo (Ctrl + Z) |
| Axis ranges do not follow the preset | See "Which setting takes priority" in Chapter 6 |
13.3Saving and settings
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The message Saving data is a paid feature appears | Saving .lgd files requires a license. Exporting images and CSV is available in Free (Chapter 11) |
| Saving downloads a new file instead of overwriting the same file | This happens in Firefox and Safari. To overwrite, use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge |
| The message Could not write to the chosen location appears | LOGADEC could not write to the chosen folder, so the file was saved to the downloads folder. Move it from there |
| Presets or display settings are gone | Settings are saved in the browser. They are not kept in a private window or after browsing data is cleared. Save them to a file with Save → Settings only, and restore them with Load |
| What happens to settings after switching to a newer version | In Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, if you open it in the same browser, presets, display settings, and the license stay as they are |

- LOGADEC is tested on the latest Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Charts are drawn with WebGL.
- LOGADEC does not communicate externally. Your data is never sent outside your computer.
- If the problem remains, contact us from Contact on logadec.com. Including your version (shown in About and licenses) and your browser name helps us investigate.
